Choosing the right builder is analogous to choosing the right doctor. After 25 years in the construction business I can tell you the most important decision you will make regarding your new home does not involve color, style or location
it is the careful selection of your builder. There are many house-builders out there, but there are only a few who are truly professional quality builders.
As a professional builder, it matters to me my name is the last thing applied to a house. It is that name people will remember. . . good or bad. So at Swann Homes, we have surround ourselves with top quality craftsmen. People of good character as well as immense talent and years of experience. This makes us who we are. At Swann Homes our goal is to provide you and your family with a house you will be proud of; a house that will serve you well for years to come. A place you will be glad to call HOME!
I believe there are 3 basic components involved in becoming a professional quality builder. Your builder should excel in all three of these areas, not just in one or two.
VISION = Taking something from nothing and making it into the object of someones dreams takes great foresight or vision. The most crucial decisions are those which are made before the dirt is moved or the first board is cut. Selecting the right piece of property, the correct house plan for the terrain as well as a plan that compliments the surrounding homes; bringing together a design that is both stylish and functional, all of this necessitates great vision. These are all critical selections that are made only after long and studious deliberation by a professional builder.
KNOWLEDGE = Understanding how a house is constructed from the ground up is essential. Each house is built by numerous specialized contractors (i.e., plumbers, electricians, etc.) the professional builder needs to understand each and every trade in order to ensure the product will be delivered as designed and promised. With most phases of construction you only get one chance to get it right and if there is a second chance, it is usually very costly.
RELATIONSHIP = Building good relationships with those we work with and those we work for is paramount. Constructing a new house is hard work; work made more difficult by poor or strained relationships. There are literally thousands of decisions which have to be made for each and every house being constructed. Good working relationships with contractors and homeowners alike are essential to ensure each house is the best it can be. Communication with people coupled with courteous treatment goes a long way toward making a difficult process enjoyable.
